Bridging the Gap: How Home Health Care is Saving Lives in Georgia's Underserved Communities

In recent years, Georgia has faced a quiet but devastating crisis: the closure of essential hospitals in underserved communities. The loss of South Fulton Medical Center and others has created a vacuum in emergency and long-term healthcare—especially in predominantly African American neighborhoods like ours.
As a registered nurse who once worked in these very hospitals, I witnessed firsthand the challenges our people face. Today, through Kingdom Care Connections, we’re taking a stand. Our mission is clear: to provide skilled, compassionate, in-home nursing care that prevents unnecessary ER visits and keeps families safe.
The Hidden Toll of Hospital Closures
Hospital closures don’t just inconvenience—they endanger lives. Communities already at high risk for cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and stroke are now left without access to immediate care. This disproportionately affects our elders, our chronically ill, and those recovering from surgery.
A Preventive Approach at Home
Kingdom Care Connections was born out of necessity. We deliver skilled nursing services directly to the homes of those in need—services like medication administration, wound care, IV therapy, and catheter support. By monitoring health proactively, we reduce avoidable hospitalizations and emergency calls.
A Community-Led Solution
This isn’t just health care—it’s advocacy. Our team understands the cultural and socioeconomic challenges our clients face because we live in these communities too. We don’t just treat—we empower.
